According to Kraninger, she is focusing on two areas: “encouraging saving and unleashing innovation wherever appropriate and possible,” with the focus on giving power to consumers when choosing financial products.“As I have said before, the Bureau cannot be everywhere, with everyone, at every transaction,” Kraninger said in her opening statement. “Therefore, empowering consumers to help themselves, protect their own interests, and choose financial products and services that best fit their needs is essential to preventing consumer harm and building financial well-being.”During the hearing, House Financial Services Chairwoman Maxine Waters was critical of Kraninger’s stance on the Bureau, as Kraninger herself reversed the Bureau’s course and agreed that the “for-cause” removal provision, which states that the president can only remove CFPB’s director for “inefficiency, neglect of duty or malfeasance in office,” does violate the U.S. Constitution’s separation of powers, according to a brief filed earlier this year in the high court by U.S. Solicitor General Noel Francisco and in letters sent to Congress.“You’ve made it harder for your own agency to crack down on abusive acts by financial institutions,” Waters said. “With this policy statement, you have made it clear that under your watch bad actors will come first and consumers will come last.”Rep. Patrick McHenry, on the other hand, praised Kraninger’s position on the Bureau’s structure, saying he believes the structure will be found to be unconstitutional and that Congress should be prepared to step in and restructure the agency. In the case of Seila Law LLC V. Consumer Protection Bureau, Seila Law alleges that the structure of the agency grants too much power to its director. According to court papers, given the CFPB’s broad law enforcement powers, the fact that the president may only remove the director of the CFPB “for inefficiency, neglect of duty, or malfeasance in office” is unconstitutional. In May, the CFPB beat Seila Law before a panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. The U.S. House of Representatives alleging that the case has no bearing on the constitutionality of the Bureau, and as such, the Supreme Court should resolve this case without deciding on the constitutionality of the Bureau. Creation Uplifts the Church

first_imgNote: While the editor is out of town, we are bringing you readings of interest from creation writings associated with CEH.Creation Uplifts the Churchfrom “Why the Church Must Emphasize Creation,” by David CoppedgeBackground and justificationMost evangelical, Bible-believing churches believe in the doctrine of creation as presented in Genesis, but few spend much time teaching or preaching it. It is often treated as a side issue, something to hold a seminar on once every few years. This presentation aims to re-open discussion about the place of creation teaching in the church, and explain how much benefit the church stands to gain by bringing creation back up to its true Biblical emphasis–especially today.Theme and summaryCreation is a dominant doctrine and recurring theme in the Bible. It is not just about the past, but encompasses all of history and the eternal future. It is not just an intellectual doctrine, but has practical applications both to individuals and to the whole church. This series of essays provides five Biblical reasons why creation must be emphasized by evangelical churches today, how it will help the ministry, and what happens when the church neglects creation. Finally, it will provide practical steps the church can perform to harness the power of the doctrine of creation.IntroductionMany subjects are considered worthy of emphasis today in the church. Among common candidates:WorshipDiscipleshipFellowship and community; body lifeExpository preachingEvangelism and missionsThe familyBiblical counselingCultural and moral declineEnd times prophecyCreation is often treated as true, but only of special interest to eggheads and intellectual types. Some pastors tend to view those involved in creation ministries as a special interest group, like the proverbial man who only has a hammer and sees every problem as a nail. Here are some initial responses to these attitudes:(1)  Beware thinking “either-or”. Each of the above topics is extremely important and must also be emphasized. In this presentation, I will only seek to say what the Bible says. If I fail, please forgive and go with the Word. Certainly the Bible talks about many subjects besides creation; but is it possible that if we really restored it to many subjects besides creation; but is it possible that if we really restored it to its Biblical emphasis, it might seem like overemphasis? This List of Bible references shows that creation is not a minor topic in the Word of God.(2)  Creation is not just about the past. It encompasses the past, present and future:In the past, God created the heavens and the earth. (Gen. 1-2)In the present, God sustains the heavens and the earth. (Ps. 104)In the future, God will create new heavens and a new earth. (Rev. 21)This brings to mind three corollaries:We will always be God’s creatures. (We are not autonomous; we are not evolving into godhood.)We will always be surrounded by God’s creation.Get used to it! (By that I mean: enjoy it; rejoice in what God has done, is doing, and will do.) Creation is as eternal as love in I Cor. 13. (See Rev. 14:7.)(3)  Creation is a vast doctrine with a multitude of levels, ramifications and applications, as we shall see. It is not just about carbon-14, geological strata, and fossils. It is an essential part of the chief end of man– to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever. Standing in awe of God for his glory, wisdom and love expressed in His creation is part of our eternal calling. Our chief end is distracted in the present world because of sin and evil, but after those are done away, we will forever worship God and enjoy His new creations, no longer cursed or tainted by sin. Since that is what we will be doing for eternity, it makes good sense to start practicing it now.(4)  What floats your boat?  Each of the above subjects (worship, fellowship, etc.) is important and must also be emphasized; we are not saying pastors must choose between creation and these other things. On the contrary, we would like to show that each of these subjects will be enhanced, strengthened, and revitalized by an emphasis on creation. Creation is the “rising tide that lifts all ships.”Tomorrow we will look at some specific examples of how creation can uplift the church.Note: this series of essays continues with five Biblical reasons why the church must emphasize creation. The entire series will be posted on under the Worship tab.(Visited 187 times, 1 visits today)FacebookTwitterPinterestSave分享0last_img read more

Fixing Email: New Boxer iOS Email App Is All About Adding Features

first_imgRole of Mobile App Analytics In-App Engagement First and foremost, Boxer works with multiple iOS email clients, from Gmail and Yahoo to Outlook and iCloud. This is great for users who have been looking for the singular email app that can unify work and personal accounts. “Let’s differentiate by being the most open client out there. One that could be used for serious business as well,” Jason Shellen, a Boxer co-founder, tells ReadWrite. In fact, Boxer is the only iOS email app that currently handles both Exchange and Gmail accounts. Mailbox got a great deal of early buzz from its slow-paced waiting list, which founder Gentry Underwood says was imperative to keep the server-side components of Mailbox’s delivery system up to speed. Boxer on the other hand, has adopted a more user-friendly approach: it is giving itself away for free until it racks up 100,000 downloads. After that, it’ll be $4.99.Swipe To Do… What?Boxer’s swiping features are now commonplace in nifty app design, and work especially well with email organization. A swipe to the left archives the message. A swipe to the right pulls up five functions: Like, Quick, To-Do, Request, and Done. Quick is a familiar feature that allows for a pre-written response to be sent with the touch of a button. Boxer crafted a list for common use, but it’s customizable. The To-Do option let’s you set a due date and a priority level for a message, and the Request button takes that feature a step further and let’s you assign a person to the message, say if it involves a task, and follow-up later. Other Boxer users can see if they’ve been assigned to a message and when the task is due. This kind of Boxer-to-Boxer interaction is a key differentiator for the app, and the Like button is the best way to see that in action. With one tap, a Boxer user can send a message that notifies someone they’ve simply Liked the previous exchange.“The same sort of action used to be: ‘Okay, now I need to open, hit reply, tap out an “Okay, let’s go.”‘ Ours is swipe, tap and you’re on your way,” Shellen says. This could reduce a long-standing email time-waster: when message recipients feel obligated to respond, often with no more than a “Thanks” or “Sounds good,” just to let someone know they’ve seen the message. While the Like button currently works only in the form of a pre-written email, Shellen said visual Boxer-to-Boxer interactions are in the works. Features, Features And More Features What it Takes to Build a Highly Secure FinTech … Related Posts Why IoT Apps are Eating Device Interfaces Tags:#email#iOS#smartphone center_img nick statt If that’s not enough, Boxer also integrates contact lists from Facebook and LinkedIn, and lets you send attachements direct to Dropbox. You can also see and organize with Gmail labels, a key feature Mailbox currently lacks, despite its Gmail-only functionality.  That many features can be overwhelming, so Boxer’s acceptance will depend on its ability to walk the line between its impressive functionality and the ability of users to remember and take advantage of all that power – especially when compared to the conscious simplicity of its competitors. The Rise and Rise of Mobile Payment Technology What exactly is the position of email these days? Is it the rich relative everyone’s trying to cozy up to in an effort to bankroll their dreams? Or the troubled friend in desperate need of an intervention? Either way, the market for “fixing” email – currently led by iOS app Mailbox, which wants to “put email in its place” – is one of the hottest targets for new apps and services. The latest player is called Boxer, which employs the tag line “email isn’t broken, it’s just unfair.” (Apparently its co-founders subscribe to the rich-relative theory). The two apps share a lot more than clever marketing slogans. Like Mailbox, Boxer is also an iOS-exclusive app meant to replace your native email client with one that greatly expands the user experience. Through clean design, simple list making, and nifty swipe gestures, both apps try to help users take the hammer to their inbox count.  But while Mailbox has thrived with its singular goal of daily “inbox zero,” Boxer is more concerned with casting the widest net and arming itself to the teeth with features. Where Boxer Has The Edgelast_img read more

Sebi mulls norms for startups to shift to main stock exchange board

first_imgNew Delhi: To help startups to move from the Innovators Growth Platform of stock exchanges to the main board for regular trading, regulator Sebi is planning a new set of norms to allow them to shift after one year of trading and expanding their shareholder base to at least 200.
