[Photo: Cecile Fusco; H/T Austin Chronicle] Bassist George Reiff passed away in Houston on Sunday, with the news permeating across Austin, Texas, and throughout the music community at large. Reiff was diagnosed with lung cancer a year ago and eventually succumb to the disease over the weekend at the age of 56. Reiff was a fixture both within the local Austin music scene and international music community, spending time on the road with Tedeschi Trucks Band, Joe Walsh, and Chris Robinson, among others. He had also shared the stage with drummers like Ringo Starr and Levon Helm to lock down the rhythm section.
