DD Fitness: Five ways to lose weight without dieting

first_imgThe word “dieting.” I hate it as much as I hate using the word ‘weight’ when referring to getting lean and dropping bodyfat. But let’s face it, if I had used any other title for the article, the chances of you clicking on it would have gone waaayyyyyy down. So, sometimes you must bend the rules a bit to get what you want. That is exactly what this article is all about. It’s about 5 ways that you can tweak things in your current nutrition to reduce your calorie intake and help yourself to get leaner, burn more fat and lose more ‘weight’.The tips below aren’t special, they have no magical properties and you won’t have to do anything drastic to see some results. The one thing you will have to do however, is try them. You also will have to try them for longer than a week, let’s be realistic here, I’m not giving a diet, I’m showing you how you can implement some small steps so you can see some success, while still eating the same foods you already eat.Let’s get to it;1. DRINK WATER. Yeah, everyone knows that you probably should drink more water throughout the day, (you really should), but that’s not what this is about. It’s about where you will be drinking the water that will help.Right before each meal, drink half a pint to a full pint of water. The water will fill your stomach and make it harder to over eat at that meal.Do this at each meal and you will save some calories from this simple fix.2. USE SMALLER PLATESWe have the tendency to overfill our plates. This wouldn’t be an issue if we didn’t have the tendency to also eat everything that is on the plate.Eating less can be disheartening for some as they feel that they are depriving themselves.By using smaller plates when having your meals, you are eliminating this feeling of depravation by ‘tricking’ yourself into thinking that you are having a full plate of food at every meal. You are, but you are eating smaller portions by default. 3. Increase your Protein and Vegetables.Protein is very hard to overeat, by increasing this you will under-eat on the more calorie dense foods.Increasing your vegetables at each meal will do the same thing.Vegetables are lower in calories than starchy carbs so you can over-eat on vegetables and not worry about going over on your calories.4. EAT THESE FIRSTLike the water, eating your protein rich foods and your vegetables 1st at each meal will also prevent you from going over on your calories at each meal. You don’t have to change anything, just eat these along with the water and you will find that you are less able to over eat on anything else at that meal. 5. SWITCH YOUR DRINKS. You could be taking in excess calories through your fluids without even realising that you are doing it.A simple fix to this is to swap your current drinks for the lower calories options or calorie free options.Switch your milk to semi skimmed or fat free.Switch sugary drinks to their calorie free counterparts.Switch the sugar you add to tea and coffee to calorie free sweeteners.Switch flavoured coffees to regular americanos. If you struggle with some of the things mentioned above and you find it hard to get motivated to change them, my new Summer Shape Up Challenge is starting on June 24th and there is a €1000 holiday up for grabs as an added incentive to keep you on track.Click the link below to get pre-registered for this fantastic challenge NOW!https://www.rushefitness.ie/class/summer-challenge/* Emmet is the owner and operator of Rushe FitnessDD Fitness: Five ways to lose weight without dieting was last modified: May 31st, 2019 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:lossrushe fitnessweightlast_img read more

Odisha to implement Centre’s ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ scheme

first_imgThe Odisha government has announced that it will implement the Centre’s ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ initiative in the State starting from September 1.According to State Minister for Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Ranendra Pratap Swain, the initiative will be implemented on a pilot basis for ration card holders under the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, and subsequently across the State.“We are going to introduce ration card portability on a pilot basis in Bhubaneswar, and it will be replicated in other parts of the State in a phased manner,” said Mr. Swain. The Central government’s ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ initiative was launched recently. Once implemented fully, it will enable the beneficiaries to procure ration from any fair price shop across the country.Aadhaar linkThe Minister said the beneficiaries under both the National Food Security Act and the State Food Security Scheme will be able to get their ration items from any public distribution shop.An official of the Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Department said the ration cards will be linked to the Aadhaar card of the beneficiaries. This will prevent those having multiple ration cards from procuring ration from two shops at different places. However, the beneficiaries, who cannot enrol themselves in Aadhaar due to some reasons, will continue to get the benefits by producing certificates issued by the authorities concerned. The Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department has directed the Khurda district administration to implement the scheme in 127 fair price shops in 67 wards of the BMC from September 1, the officials said.Deadline Aug. 31 The beneficiaries will have to give their finger prints on a machine to avail rations, the officials added. The State government has set the deadline for linking Aadhaar number with the ration cards till August 31. At present, the beneficiaries covered under NFSA and State Food Security Scheme get five kg subsidised foodgrains per head every month. The State government has also rolled out a pilot project in Malkangiri district to supply fortified rice grains containing iron, folic acid, Vitamin A and Vitamin B12 to reduce malnutrition among the PDS beneficiaries.(With PTI inputs)last_img read more

first_imgLeeds boss Bielsa blasts Arsenal legend Wright: You’re not helpingby Paul Vegas2 days agoSend to a friendShare the loveLeeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa insists he will keep selecting the team on his terms.Bielsa insists he won’t be rushed into finding a way to fit Patrick Bamford and Eddie Nketiah into the same team after yet another crucial goal for the Arsenal starlet.Nketiah emerged from the bench to net a late equaliser for Leeds at Preston to leave them second in the Championship.Gunners legend Ian Wright took to Twitter to urge Bielsa to start the England Under-21 international after his third Championship goal of the campaign. “We have never proved this kind of combination in our training,” Bielsa said of the possibility of the strike duo playing in tandem.”In the international break, Nketiah is not with us, because we play twice a week and when we prepare in the week there are few spaces to try these kinds of things.”When you have a series of bad results and you have to find a different solution, that [kind of series] hasn’t happened. I think that all this around Bamford and Nketiah doesn’t help both of them.”It is natural that people argue about my decision because they don’t have all the reasons I have. I want both of them to be a success this year. We have 46 matches or 50 matches.”We are in the first 25 per cent of the competition. I think that we have time so I can find a way that both of them shine. If this doesn’t happen, it is going to be a mistake of mine.” TagsLoan MarketAbout the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your saylast_img read more

Dotting the i Slob mentality alive with Prince

OSU sophomore offensive tackle Isaiah Prince (59) prepares to make a block during the Buckeyes game against Oklahoma Sept. 17 at Gaylord Family Memorial Stadium. The Buckeyes won 45-24. Credit: Alexa Mavrogianis | Photo EditorChase Farris was an intimidating force for the Ohio State offensive line last season. Replacing him could have caused plenty of headaches for the Buckeyes, but sophomore right tackle Isaiah Prince has proven to be effective in the starting role.Prince, a native of Greenbelt, Maryland, is a former four-star recruit who was considered the best player from his state. On Signing Day, he signed with the Buckeyes, boosting an already large haul for OSU.Paving the way for redshirt freshman Mike Weber on the ground and protecting redshirt junior quarterback J.T. Barrett’s right side, Prince has been instrumental in the success of the offensive unit for OSU regardless of his young age. Currently, the Buckeyes have surrendered just two sacks through four games, and average 332 yards rushing per contest.“For me personally, there was no pressure.”  Prince said. “This is something we’ve been preparing every day in the winter and spring.”A young lineman stepping into the starting lineup for OSU is no small accomplishment. Orlando Pace, John Hicks, Jim Lachey and Nick Mangold are a few former OSU offensive lineman who have had their names go down in Buckeye history. After backing up now-NFL talents in both Taylor Decker and Farris, Prince has had large expectations about his play. Even though he has earned his way into the lead role at right tackle, OSU offensive line coach Greg Studrawa said he and fellow tackle and junior left tackle Jamarco Jones still need to improve.“I’m pleased with some of the things they’re doing, and I’m not pleased with some things they’re doing,” Studrawa said. “But they’re growing.”Against Oklahoma, the offense for OSU faced a tough task in the defensive unit of the Sooners. Although Barrett tossed four touchdowns that evening, the night belonged to the lineman and the running backs for the Buckeyes. All told, OSU had 291 yards on the ground, and averaged 6.1 yards per carry. Multiple long runs, including Weber’s 35-yard scamper in the second half, were off the right side.Prince, standing at a massive 6-foot-7, 310 pounds, seems to swallow up opposing defensive ends and linebackers before they can even get out of their stance. A man of few words, the Maryland native has let his play do the talk this season.Overall, Prince said he has improved in basically every way, with an extreme emphasis on his pass protection and run blocking. In multiple times this season, Prince has collapsed the entire right side of the opponent’s defensively line single-handedly. Teamed up with redshirt junior guard Billy Price, running plays to the right has paid dividends in the form of big gains for the OSU offense. The ability to dominate may be impressive, but it’s business as usual for Prince.“Anything to help the team,” Prince said. “Anything to help (Weber), (Barrett), anyone of them pop through. That’s my job. That’s what I’m supposed to do.”With a multitude of talent lost to the NFL, fans were anxious to see how OSU coach Urban Meyer would replace such skilled players. “The Slobs,” the self-imposed moniker of the offensive line, seemed to be a thing of the past after the 2015 season.Redshirt senior center Pat Elflein insisted the name would stay, and the players moving up were more than worthy of the coveted title.Considering how Prince has played so far this season, it seems fitting that when asked if his name can be considered a part of the group of mauling blockers, he only smiled and offered a short reply.“Yeah, I’m a Slob,” Prince said. read more
