This weekend the area football teams will play their first round of the sectional. Competing in 4A will be East Central, South Dearborn, Franklin County, and Connersville from the EIAC. Those teams playing in 3A sectionals from the EIAC include Batesville, Greensburg, Lawrenceburg, and Rushville. Competing in 2A will be Milan and in 1A North and South Decatur.The same schools in volleyball will be competing in their respective divisions during this week. Some of the teams may have been eliminated by the time this article appears. We hope your school is still playing for a sectional title.Football teams play at various sights because high school football fields (unless they are synthetic surfaces) cannot withstand more than one game in a weekend, and everyone wants the chance to play a home game. Therefore, it takes 3 weeks to complete a football sectional. Volleyball can be played all at one sight, so the sectional will be completed by this Saturday night.The top ranked volleyball teams include Lawrenceburg and East Central while in football the same two schools along with Batesville have the highest ratings.
