first_imgGERRY ADAMS IS to speak about the ‘new Ireland’ and the peace process at an event in London tomorrow.The Sinn Féin Leader and TD is the keynote speaker at the conference, which will take place in the London Irish Centre.At the conference – titled ‘Towards a New Ireland – A new phase of the peace process’ – Colin Parry, whose son Timothy was killed by an IRA bomb in Warrington, will also speak. A third speaker will be Tony Blair’s former Chief of Staff, Jonathan Powell.In his speech, Adams will cover the issues of the implementation of the Good Friday Agreement, the legacy of conflict, and advancing the peaceful re-unification of Ireland.The conference itself will discuss the peace process, reconciliation, the idea of a Border Poll, Ireland’s economic future and challenges facing the the Irish in Britain.Other speakers on the day will include Diane Abbott MP, Nessa Childers MEP, John McCallister MLA, Jeremy Corbyn MP and Kris Hopkins MP, Baroness Angela Smith, Senator Kathryn Reilly and John Douglas.Read: NI First Minister Peter Robinson hails GAA for its role in peace-building>Read: McGuinness: Obama is ‘absolutely engaged’ in the peace process>last_img
